A man has been arrested for threatening to kill French President Emmanuel Macron, AP reported citing a local legal source.

The 23-year-old has been detained on terrorism charges for plotting a possible attack on Macron or minority groups, said French authorities.

The man, who was arrested on Thursday, was acting alone with a vague and unfinished plan, said Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre, spokeswoman for the Paris prosecutor's office.

The man told police his plan was to attack Macron during the July 14th Bastille Day parade when the president would be overseeing a military parade in Paris alongside US President Donald Trump.
