Saudi king appoints Muhammad bin Salman as crown prince

Saudi Arabia's King Salman on Wednesday named his son Mohammed bin Salman as crown prince, according to a royal decree published by the official news agency SPA.

Mohammed bin Nayef has been relieved of his post and replaced by the newly announced Mohammed bin Salman, who was also named deputy prime minister, and maintains his post as minister of defense.
