China has stepped up epidemic prevention and control measures among local cultural relics units around the country amid the COVID-19 epidemic, according to an official with the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) Thursday.

Noting that cultural relics units have resumed work in an orderly manner, Liu Yuzhu, director of the NCHA, said measures such as health monitoring, epidemic warning and emergency management must be put in place to ensure the safety of visitors, personnel and cultural relics.

Cultural relics units were urged to inform all personnel about safety knowledge on epidemic control and prevention, carry out safety inspection and enhance emergency response preparedness to ensure warning and handling epidemic situations properly.

In addition, the NCHA called for better management of vehicles entering or leaving the cultural relics units, including setting up warning signs and safety protection facilities against car accidents.
