Vietnamese party committee decides on top personnel nomination

The third plenary of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPVCC) opened Monday to decide on nomination for top leadership positions of the country.

Nomination work for top leadership positions of the country for 2016-2021 tenure is very important, CPVCC General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said at the opening ceremony of the meeting, reported Vietnam's state-run radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

According to a plan submitted by the Politburo to the CPVCC on nomination of top leadership positions, the CPVCC will not conduct voting for the positions of President, Prime Minister (PM), National Assembly (NA) Chairperson and 34 other positions who have gone through the vote of nomination at the second CPVCC plenary earlier in March with high confidence votes.

The CPVCC will vote on nomination of other 13 positions who have not been nominated or whose nominated positions have changes compared to the previous meeting, said VOV.

The election of Vietnam's top leadership positions for the 2016-2021 tenure, including President, PM, NA Chairperson, will be conduct at the first session of the 14th NA scheduled to be held late July.

Also at the CPVCC meeting, which will last till Friday, participants will discuss regulations on responsibilities and authorities of the CPVCC, Politburo, Secretariat, Central Inspection Commission, General Secretary, President, PM, NA Chairperson; implementation of party charter; regulations of party supervision and discipline, among others.
