Why was this body-cam footage kept secret for more than two years?
State police in Louisiana did not investigate the incident of a Black motorist being bashed in the head with a flashlight by a trooper until 536 days after it occurred in May 2019.
Aaron Larry Bowman was pulled over close to his home on a traffic stop. The officer hit the man 18 times with an aluminum flashlight.
The trooper, Jacob Brown, defended the use of force as “pain compliance.”
The motorist was left with a broken jaw, broken ribs, a broken risk and a gash to his head.
The white officer faces state charges in the man’s beating and two others involving Black motorists.
