MANILA, May 22 (APD) – The country’s leading telecommunications companies, Philippine Long Distance Telephone, Smart Communications, and Globe Telecom assured millions of Filipino subscribers of efficient service despite news reports surrounding Huawei.

PLDT, in a statement released to the media, said despite the recent trade ban of the United States government on Huawei products, the handsets and devices from Huawei “will continue to function normally” on their PLDT-Smart network.

“PLDT and Smart will work closely with Huawei in addressing concerns regarding future firmware and software updates for phones, pocket wi-fi units, and other devices,” the telecom giant added.

Meanwhile, Globe Telecomm said they have assured their customers “that their existing Huawei devices will continue to function properly using the Globe network.”

“We will provide updates to our customers for other developments on this matter,” the statement added.

Most of Filipinos now rely on mobile phones to communicate with their loved ones across the globe.
