The 19th CPC National Congress opens in Beijing

Xi Jinping, on behalf of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is delivering a work report to the 19th CPC National Congress, which got underway on Wednesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

In his report, Xi will review the achievements made in the past five years.

"In the past five years, we have implemented the five-sphere integrated plan and the four-pronged comprehensive strategy," he said, adding that "on all fronts new advances have been made for the cause of the Party and the country."

More than 2,200 delegates are attending the high-profile event.

The CPC National Congress will lay out a blueprint for the future of the Party and the country over the coming five years.
