NEW DELHI, October 27(APD) - Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will be in Japan to attend the annual summit to be held on October 28 and 29.
It will be Modi’s 12th meeting with Abe as his first visit was in September 2014.
Before leaving, the Indian Prime Minister issued a statement terming India-Japan partnership as a “winning combination”.
He said, “We have a special strategic and global partnership. Our ties with Japan, both economic and strategic, stand completely transformed in recent years.”
“It is today a partnership of great substance and purpose. It rests on the strong pillars of India’s Act East Policy, and our shared vision and commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific,” he further noted.
Reflecting on the shared values between the two countries, he said, “Our complementarities make India and Japan a winning combination. Japan today is one of the most trusted partners in India’s economic and technological modernisations and one of the top investors in India.”
In 2017, Prime Minister Modi had hosted Prime Minister Abe and his wife Akie Abe in the province of Gujarat, his home state.
This year in Japan, Prime Minister Abe will host a private dinner for Modi in Yamanashi prefecture at his holiday home on October 28.
