1760 newly graduated officers commissioned to Afghan army

More than 1,700 newly graduated officers after completion of a three-month training course were commissioned to Afghan National Army on Sunday.

"A total of 1,760 officers completed a three-month military training course in Kabul Military Training Center today and after receiving certificates would be deployed to several provinces to help stabilize security," Afghan chief of army staff General Qadam Shah Shahem told the audience at a ceremony to distribute certificates.

Praising the sacrifices of security forces in the war against militant groups, the official said that the newly graduated officers would be dispatched to several provinces to bolster the war against enemies.

The Afghan army chief also distributed the certificates of the newly graduated officers.

Currently the strength of Afghan national security forces is more than 352,000 and of these around 120,000-strong forces belongs to the country's national army, according to officials.
