Military helicopter with 5 people crashes in northern Philippines

A military helicopter carrying five people crashed on Thursday evening while taking off in a military camp in the northern Philippines, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) said.

In a statement, the PAF said the UH-1D Huey chopper form the PAF's 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing crashlanded at around 7:00 p.m. local time at the Cauayan Air Station in Cauayan City of Isabela province.

"As of this time, recovery of the aircraft is being executed to determine the number of casualties. The PAF will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the incident," the PAF statement read.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines confirmed the accident, saying the five people on board include two pilots, one back rider and two crew members.
