The whole of Europe is on high alert in the wake of several recent terror attacks, with many countries raising their threat levels.

France declared a state of emergency in 2015 after terror attacks in Paris left 130 people dead. The measures have since been extended several times, with the state of emergency still standing.

Belgium hiked its terror threat to its highest level in 2016 after deadly explosions at Brussels airport and on a metro train killed over 30 people. Though the country later reduced the rating by one level, it still remains on Level 3, meaning an attack "is possible and likely".

Germany is also on guard. According to security authorities, Germany is on its highest level of terror alert since the 1970s.

Other countries including Sweden and Norway are also maintaining their threat alerts at high levels.
