India celebrates 1 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses

Healthcare workers and citizens in India are celebrating a major milestone- the country administered one billion COVID-19 vaccines to the population, months after struggling to get the inoculation program off the ground.

While the campaign has covered three-quarters of the 944 million eligible adults, only 31 percent have two shots. The government is pushing for all adults to get completely vaccinated by the end of the year.
