Putin calls for seeking new energy of innovation development

Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday urged the active use of innovative technology in the field of raw materials to create a new engine of innovation economy in the country.

In a message sending to the opening ceremony of the 15th Tomsk Innovation Forum, which kicked off in the Siberian city of Tomsk on the same day, Putin said that newly and advanced innovative technology should be applied to all sectors, especially to fuel and energy complex.

"This will push the innovation economy to a new height," the president said.

Nearly 1,000 experts and representatives in different fields from 20 countries and regions participated in the forum, discussing the role of primary sectors in Russia's innovation development.

At the forum, the attendees have reached consensus that Russian innovative companies and the raw materials sector cannot exist without each other, they are bound to cooperate.

Some experts also said that Russia will get a developing opportunity not only due to its export resources but also technologies.

The Tomsk Innovation Forum, which started from 1998, has become a reputable platform for discussing issues related with innovation development and finding solutions aimed at the modernization of Russian economy.

The 15th forum, slated from Wednesday to Thursday, will discuss the role of primary sectors in the innovation development, considering them as main consumers of innovative products and one of the key current drivers of the knowledge-based economy.
