China has begun soliciting public opinions on a draft regulation that revises the response of nursing homes to infectious diseases in light of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said Tuesday.

The draft revision asks nursing homes to timely report confirmed or suspected cases of infectious diseases among the elderly and take sanitary and quarantine measures accordingly.

The draft also states that nursing homes can contact family members of the elderly if they have not paid visits or sent regards for an extended period.

Nursing homes are also asked to install surveillance cameras in their public areas and keep the footage on file.
