Deadly wildlife continue causing drama on Australia's east coast

Australia's deadly wildlife continue to cause drama, this time forcing organizers on Wednesday to cancel an open water ocean swim in Northern Queensland.

Saltwater crocodile sightings have forced the cancellation of the Magnetic Island to Townsville Ocean Swim -- the first time in the event's 61-year history.

Some 100 competitors were registered to take to the water on July 26.

"I've had information that crocodiles were spotted on Friday and Saturday. We need to make sure we are safe and don't put anyone at risk," organizing committee member John Barrett told local media on Wednesday.

On Saturday, organizers were forced to suspend an international surfing competition on Australia's east coast following a shark attack that left a 32-year-old man in critical condition. Enditem
