The report also indicated that it is supposed to be the first time when the Black Friday online sales will cross the $3 billion mark. After the weekend, the figures are expected to surge further. Adobe Digital Insights' chief analyst and director Tamara Gaffney mentioned the drop in sales in online sales following the US presidential elections and said that the Black Friday online sales are expected cover up for all losses.

The chief also said that the Black Friday online sales have seen the return of customers to online shopping. "As spending ramps up on Black Friday, we are back on track. We still expect Cyber Monday to surpass Black Friday and become the largest online sales day in history with $3.36 billion," Gaffney said as quoted byTech Crunch.

Website Traffic Jams As Black Friday Online Sales Escalate

Where the number of buyers at physical stores still sustain, online shoppers tend to surge during Black Friday online sales,USA Todayreports. Although the sales using smartphones and other mobile devices have registered revenue worth $1 billion for the first time, Wal-Mart and Target have revealed that around 60 percent of their product orders have been received from mobiles.

As far as Macy's is concerned, customers have received a message saying "temporary shopping jam." This was because of the heavier traffic for Black Friday online sales. The site initiated a message where the customers were asked to wait for 10 seconds to get the page refreshed. In addition, the buyers were given an alternative 1-800 number to place their orders or speak to ecommerce representative for grievances, if any.
