Senior Chinese diplomat to meet with U.S. national security advisor

Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has arrived in Zurich, Switzerland, to meet with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

Yang, also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, will meet with Sullivan "according to the consensus reached by Chinese and U.S. heads of state during their phone call on September 10 and as agreed upon by China and the United States," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Wednesday.

"They will exchange views on China-U.S. relations and relevant issues," Hua said.
