Canada confirmed its COVID-19 death in Vancouver of British Columbia province Monday.
One of the residents of a care center in north Vancouver's Lynn Valley, whose case was announced Saturday, died Sunday night, Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry said at a news conference.
The dead was a man in his 80s with underlying health conditions who contracted the virus from a care home worker, who also worked at other facilities in Metro Vancouver.
At the news conference, the officer confirmed five new COVID-19 cases, bringing the provincial total up to 32. Half of the province's cases are connected to travel to Iran.
Up to Monday noon, there are a total of 74 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Canada, 34 cases were confirmed in Ontario, 32 in British Columbia, four in Quebec and four in Alberta.
