Myanmar's parliament forms more committees

Both houses of Myanmar's parliament have formed more committees respectively to carry out parliamentary undertakings, an official report said on Friday.

The three more committees formed by the House of Representatives (Lower House) are that for banks and monetary affairs development, led by Dr. Than Myint, that for agriculture, livestock breeding and fishery development, led by U Yan Lin, and that for education promotion, led by Dr. Tin Aung.

The six more committees formed by the House of Nationalities (Upper House) are that for the ethnic affairs, farmers affairs, women and children's rights, education promotion, local and overseas employment, and citizens' fundamental rights.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives also formed a Committee for International Relations, chaired by Daw Su Su Lwin and a Committee for Ethnic Affairs and Implementation of Domestic Peace, led by U Khun Man Thaung.

Meanwhile, Daw Sanda Min was assigned by Yangon Regional Parliament to lead the committee for Financial Project and Economic Affairs, warning to reject projects being implemented by the government if they are found not in the interest of the public.

The projects would face cancellation if the new government did not agree with the projects left by the previous government, said Sanda Min.

The first session of the newly-elected House of Representative and House of Nationalities (Upper House)as well as the Regional or State Parliament started on Feb. 1.
