China's National Day falls on October 1, and this year marks the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In conjunction with the special day, CGTN went to the streets of Beijing to understand how the public view national pride.

The public has a very different understanding of the definition of national pride. "I feel my country is always in my heart, and she's always worried about and thinking of me no matter what happens," a girl said.

"It means I love my country, my people and my work, and there is always a dream about China," a man claimed.

Another man said that national pride makes him want to be a better person and try to contribute to the stability of the society by creating his own harmonious family.

When it comes to the question on how to express national pride, the answers tend to revolve around their daily lives.

"I personally like watching traditional Chinese movies, and sometimes visiting Chinese museums to learn more about China's history and development progress."

"When we travel abroad, we need to pay attention to our words and behavior which represent our country."

"Like now I really put focus on cultivating my child's daily behavior, for example, don't litter and pay attention to etiquette in public."

When do you have the strongest feeling of national pride? The answers just got warm and heart-melting. One interviewee said she feels really excited and inspired every time she sees the red national flag rising and the grand National Day parades.

"I'm deeply touched every time I see our country evacuating Chinese people overseas [during times of calamity] and bringing them home, which makes me feel largely supported and secure," another man said.
