Indonesia's Bali to host 16th Asia-Pacific Labor meeting

Indonesia's Bali will host the 16th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) on labor issue, attracting manpower ministers, representatives of labor unions from 47 countries and regions, an Indonesian official said on Friday.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo is scheduled to open the international event which will be held in Bali's Nusa Dua from December 6 to 9, the secretary general of Indonesia's Manpower Ministry Abdul Wahab Bangkona said.

"Ministers and representatives will get together to discuss priority issues in labor sector in Asia-Pacific region. They will also discuss visions of the International Labor Organization (ILO) to address appropriate wages for labor from 2016 to 2021," Abdul said.

He added that ILO secretary general and ILO Asia and the Pacific director are confirmed to attend the meeting.

Indonesia is a member of ILO's executive board of Governing Body for the second time, serving from 2014 to 2017.
