Myanmar's Yangon Technological University (YTU) and Japan's Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will launch technological cooperation for the development of human resources in Myanmar in academic education under an internship program, sources with the Myanmar university said Monday.
Under the three-month internship program agreed by the two sides, selected YTU students are to attend the program in Japan launched by Mitsubishi from December 2014 to February 2015.
It is the first time for a Myanmar educational institute to partner with a Japanese firm to foster talented Myanmar engineers.
According to the YTU, it has signed more than 30 technology- related memorandums of understanding with firms in developed countries, especially Japan, under the current government for human resources development.
Mitsubishi has been selling products and services focused on power sector for many years in Myanmar.
Meanwhile, Myanmar's Yangon University and Japan's Kansai University agreed in October to promote exchange of students, academic information and publication.
The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding in July on Japan's provision of aid worth 25 million U.S. dollars for upgrading technological universities in Myanmar including those in Yangon and Mandalay.
