The United States and India are "close to signing three foundational agreements" in fields of defense and communications to take bilateral military ties "to the next level", local media quoted a top U.S. military commander as saying Thursday.

"We were moving out aggressively in technical field with DTTI (Defense Technology and Trade Initiative)," the Press Trust of India quoted U.S. Pacific Command Commander Admiral Harry Harris as saying in Washington.

Harris is due to make a visit to India next week for a wide range of talks with his Indian counterparts and leaders, according to the report.
