China on Wednesday rejected UN human right's chief Navi Pillay's remarks on the June 4 incident, saying they gravely intervened in China's judicial sovereignty and internal affairs.

Pillay on Tuesday called on China to immediately release over ten "activists" detained for the exercise of their human right to freedom of expression and to reveal the truth about what had happened 25 years ago.

"The so-called press release made by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay grossly goes against her mandate and constitutes a grave intervention of China's judicial sovereignty and internal affairs," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei at a daily news briefing.

"China is strongly opposed to that," Hong said.

The Chinese government has already reached a conclusion on the political incident which took place in the late 1980s in China, said Hong.

China's tremendous achievement in the field of human rights is there for all to see, he said.

"China has chosen a viable path to develop human rights, and this is not to be changed by any discordant voice," Hong added.
