Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Saturday the isolation measures aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19 will stay in place as the war against the disease continues.

For the seventh day in a row, Canada saw its death toll rise by less than 10%.

The country has reported 45,521 COVID-19 cases and 2,549 deaths, according to the U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.

"We all must do our part by following the recommendations of public health experts and staying at home. We will get through this together," Trudeau said in a statement to mark national medical laboratory week.

Some of Canada's province had announced plans to gradually reopen their economies, but with strict adherence to social distancing.

Trudeau said measures would differ as infection rates vary among the various provinces, but national coordination was required.
