The younger brother of South Korean President Park Geun-hye appeared at prosecutors' office on Monday for questioning about whether he was involved in the leakage of a presidential document.

Park Ji-man, 56, appeared as a reference witness for prosecutors who would reportedly ask him about whether he was handed over the leaked document.

The internal file written on Jan. 6 was first reported by the local Segye Times newspaper in late November.

Jeong Yun-hoe, 59, a former aide to Park in late 1990s, has met with presidential officials twice a month since October 2013 and has been briefed by them on state affairs, according to the report.

The document said he also talked with three presidential secretaries about how to oust the Blue House chief of staff Kim Ki- choon though Jeong has never held any position in the government.

Dismissing the allegations as groundless, Jeong last week filed a libel suit against the Segye Times.

President Park said earlier this month that the case was an act of undermining the nation's foundation, calling for a thorough investigation into it.
