Kenyatta on Thursday stopped over at Khartoum airport en route to his country from Italy.

Kenyatta and al-Bashir held short talks at the airport that dealt with regional and bilateral issues.

"We discussed bilateral ties and how to boost them further for the interests of the two countries' peoples", Kenyatta told reporters.

He reiterated the importance of creating a strong base for bilateral cooperation regarding bilateral and regional issues, pointing out that Sudan and Kenya are neighboring countries which share common interests that must be kept and developed.
