Asian-African leaders welcome China's initiatives to promote intercontinental cooperation

Leaders of Asian-African countries welcomed initiatives that China has offered to boost intercontinental cooperation, said a document adopted at the Asian- African summit which concluded here on Thursday.

The Declaration on Reinvigorating the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership was adopted at the two-day Asian-African summit, through which leaders of Asian-African nations reaffirmed their commitment to expanding and solidifying the long-standing cooperation between the two continents.

"We welcome China's initiatives to provide 100,000 training quotas to Asian-African developing countries for five years; to hold get-together events in China annually for youth from Asia and Africa," the declaration said.

Leaders also welcome other initiatives such as "to establish an Asian-African cooperation center in China, to launch a program on exchange and study of international laws between Asian-African legal consultative organization and China, and to hold an international symposium on the theme of carrying forward the spirit of Bandung this year," according to the declaration.

The initiatives were announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping when he was addressing the summit.

The two-day summit under the theme "Strengthening South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Prosperity," is part of this year's Asian-African Conference events which drew leaders and delegates from some 100 Asian and African nations, 15 observer countries and 17 international organizations.
