18th ASEAN-India SOM kicks off in Hanoi

The 18th ASEAN-India Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) is taking place in Vietnam's capital Hanoi from Thursday to Friday, a Vietnamese official announced on Thursday.

Le Hai Binh, spokesperson of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement at a regular press briefing held in capital Hanoi on Thursday.

"The meeting convenes with representatives of ASEAN countries, the ASEAN Secretariat and Vietnamese related ministries and agencies," said Binh.

According to the agenda, at the meeting, participants will review and discuss ways to boost cooperation between ASEAN and India as well as exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest, Binh told reporters.

ASEAN, which stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Enditem
