Death toll rises in Nepal snowstorm

Death toll in snowstorm and avalanche that occurred in Mustang and Manang districts have continued to rise Wednesday, according to authorities.

At least 20 people have been confirmed dead after the tragedy took place Tuesday, among which nine victims where foreigners, while the exact names of foreign tourists and Nepal nationals are yet to be identified, said local officials.

According to Public Relation Directorate of Nepal Army (NA), the process of recovering the dead bodies is underway.

A larger number of foreign and domestic national tourists were heading toward the tourist destination of Mustang district.

NA has also rescued 38 foreign tourists from there after the situation turned worse due to the heavy snow storm. In the wake of the Hudhud cyclone, a heavy rain accompanied by hail storms has lashed the central and western region of Nepal.
