National Hugging Day embraces the importance of hugs

If ‘a kiss is worth a thousand words,’ what is a hug worth these days? For many people around the world during the ongoing pandemic, a hug may be worth everything.

January 21 is National Hugging Day in the U.S., a day to encouraging people to hug their family and friends more often. We took a look at some of the most newsworthy hugs of the last few weeks, from hospitalized COVID-19 patients, to migrants reuniting, to a hug-able teddy bear made from the shirt of a father who died from coronavirus.

Hugs can bring comfort, and need to be given safely in these difficult times.
