Iran and the European Union (EU) will hold a meeting in Geneva on Thursday and Friday to discuss remaining issues pertaining to the implementation of an interim nuclear deal between Tehran and the major world powers, a top Iranian nuclear negotiator was quoted as saying by Tehran Times daily on Wednesday.

Abbas Araqchi said he will meet with Helga Schmid, a deputy of European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, who has overseen contacts between Iran and the six major powers on the country's nuclear issue.

Araqchi also said that Iran plans to freeze parts of its nuclear program in exchange for the start of easing economic sanctions by the end of this month.

Nuclear experts from Iran and the six powers have held three rounds of talks to resolve various technical issues before the Geneva deal can be put into place.
