Three Chinese among fishing boat crew kidnapped off Ghana coast

A fishing boat was seized by armed men in waters off Ghana in West Africa, with a Korean captain and four crew members on board, including three Chinese and one Russian, Yonhap reported on Thursday.

The tuna boat was approached by a speedboat on Wednesday with eight armed menonboard, some 65 nautical miles from the coastal city of Tema, the South Korean media outlet reported citing Dryad Global, a maritime security and intelligence provider.

"The vessel was reportedly fired upon prior to being boarded by five armed men. The vessel is understood to have been hijacked and sailed south to a distance of 100nm," according to the Dryad Global report.
