A Bolivian judge ordered four months of preventive custody for former interim president Jeanine Anez on Sunday, a day after she was detained for taking part in an alleged coup in 2019.

Anez confirmed the judge's order on Twitter, saying that she is awaiting trial for a "coup that never happened."

Along with other ministers and security officials, she is facing charges of "terrorism, sedition and conspiracy" for her role in the 2019 political crisis that led her to succeed then president Evo Morales after he resigned amid accusations of election fraud and protests.
