China Successfully Conducts Test Flight at New Airport in South China Sea

(PEOPLE'S DAILY ONLINE)China conducted successful test flights at a newly built airport in the Nansha Islands of the South China Sea on January 6, 2016.

Two government-hired civilian aircrafts took off from Meilan Airport of Haikou, capital of south China’s Hainan Province and after a nearly 2-hour flight, both landed safely at the new airport on Yongshu Jiao of Nansha Isalnds. The aircrafts flew back to Haikou on Wednesday afternoon.

The test flights successfully prove that the new airport meets the standards for civil aviation. Henceforth, the airport will better serve the needs of the great many vessels and seafarers using one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes.
