Nigeria gains full control of northeast Bama town: military

Nigerian troops are now in full control of northeast Bama town in Borno State, after clearing terrorists from the town on Monday, the country's defense headquarters said.

In a tweet monitored by Xinhua in Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub, the military authority said "Nigerian troops have this afternoon routed terrorists from Bama in Borno state.

It added that mopping up operation is ongoing.

Bama is the second largest town in Borno after Maiduguri, the state capital.

Nigerian troops have routed terrorists from different towns and communities in northeast Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states in the last few weeks.

With the massive military operations, the troops have also recovered several sophisticated weapons from the terrorists. Enditem
