Algerians battle deadly wildfires

Wildfires fanned by blistering temperatures killed at least 65 people in Algeria, including 28 soldiers. Authorities said that the fires had criminal origins, saying the ‘arsonists’ had been arrested. Major blazes are also burning in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and the western U.S.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune tweeted his condolences for soldiers killed in rescue efforts. Temperatures hit 115°F (46°C) this week in the North African country which is also struggling with severe water shortages.
