APD | Huawei says Phillippines is on the road to being a smart nation

MANILA, May 10 (APD) – The Philippines is on its way to becoming a smart nation. This was how Leo Zhang, President of Huawei Enterprise Business Group/Huawei Technology Philippines, Inc. looks at the progress made by his company since its presence in the country in 2001 and the Philippine government.

Speaking at the Huawei EBG Channel Partners Conference at Grand Hyatt Manila Friday afternoon, Zhang said after 19 years of hard work and efforts, over 500 Filipinos are now employed, with 100 of their manpower in Enterprise Business Group alone.

“In the past year, Huawei’s Enterprise business achieved a year-on-year revenue increase of 35.1%,” he said. He added with the strong support of their customers and partners, they achieved breakthroughs in Government, Conglomerate, Finance and ISP industry.

“In the Philippines, the country is on the road to be a smart nation as we have successfully served dozens of central government departments including the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), Social Security System (SSS) and the Department of Finance (DoF), leading conglomerates such as ShoeMart (SM), Ayala Group of Companies and banks including Banco de Oro.

Zhang said more Philippine enterprises and organizations have chosen Huawei as digital transformation partner, not only the provision of platforms to customers but the needed support in their digital transformation.

He further said they now have over 300 partners in the Philippines which he described as ten times more than when they began operations in 2012.

“In 2018, partners contributed up to 80% of our sales revenue,” he added.

Zhang said forward-looking, Huawei will continue to make its presence felt in the new ICT era calling ecosystem including Cloud Technology, Big Data, IoT, AI and Blockchain for both the government and enterprises.

“Huawei will continue to invest more on partner enablement, optimize channel system, incentive as well as talent development programs to support our trust partners to thrive and prosper in this digital era,” he concluded as he underscored his company’s commitment to “bring Digital” to ever person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world.
