The accident happened on Monday night when the bus carrying 32 Chinese passengers ran off the road and overturned in Thailand's famous beach destination Phuket.

Local reports said the bus was traveling on a curve on the downhill road to Patong beach.

It crashed into a motor and veered off, killing two and injuring two dozen.

Six of the injured were still in hospital for further observation, local media said.

The bus driver, 36, said the road was too steep for him to control the speed.

Lying off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea, Phuket consist of the country's largest island and other 32 small islands, which is home to long beaches and crystal sea.

The region derives much of its incomes from tourism.

According to Patong police, it was the second crash on the Patong Hill in less than two weeks after a tour bus carrying Chinese tourists developed braking failure and slammed into a concrete wall on June 30.
