COVID-19: Global death toll surpasses 4 million

The World Health Organization says it’s growing concerned about the divergent approaches that various countries are taking to deal with new COVID-19 variants.

The global death toll according toJohns Hopkins University has now topped four million.

The WHO says variants are winning the race against COVID, partly due to massive inequality in vaccine distribution between rich and poor countries.

But some rich countries are scaling back their restrictions even as variants surge.
