U.S. leading comedian critically injured in car crash

U.S. comedian Tracy Morgan was critically injured in a fatal six-vehicle accident in the State of New Jersey early Saturday morning.

At least one person was killed in the accident, which occurred at about 1 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) on the northbound side of the turnpike near Cranbury Township, according to a CNN report.

The victim was not immediately identified.

The 45-year-old actor and comedian was riding on a limousine bus which was hit by a tractor-trailer, the report said.

Morgan joined "Saturday Night Live" in 1996 and was on the sketch-comedy for seven years before he joined "30 Rock," an award-winning sitcom created by his "Saturday Night Live" co-star Tina Fey.
