Cape Verde confirms 16 new COVID-19 cases as tally rises to 106

Cape Verde reported 16 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 106 in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Security, among the 142 samples tested at the virology laboratory, 16 returned positive.

"All of the COVID-19 patients are isolated and getting better without symptoms or with mild symptoms. We keep asking people to stay at home and take the appropriate measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19," the health ministry said in a press release.

So far, Cape Verde counts 106 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 53 on the island of Boa Vista, 49 in the municipality of Praia, two in the municipality of Tarrafal, one in the municipality of Sao Domingos and one in the Sao Vicente Island.

Among the confirmed cases, there is a cured patient, and a death, a 62-year-old British national who was on vacation on the island of Boa Vista.
