Thanksgiving 2020 was not the typical holiday most Americans are accustomed to withCOVID-19 claiming more than 2,000 lives a day in the U.S., and new cases surging toward 200,000 every day.

The economic crisis has also brought on long lines at food banks and the political and cultural divide over the coronaviruscontinues.

In a narrow 5-4 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court sided with religiousgroups who argued that New York State had discriminated against them over limiting the size of congregations at churches and synagogues to 10-25 worshippers due to the virus.

Despite recommendations by health officials to stay home, many still traveled on Thanksgiving, indicating a difficult holiday season as winter approaches.
