Police have ordered the arrest of a suspect in their investigation of Monday's fatal explosion at a gambling den in southwest China's Guizhou Province, said local authorities on Wednesday.
A 35-year-old man surnamed Wu has been put on a nationwide wanted list over his suspected involvement in the blast, according to police authorities in Guizhou.
Wu, a resident of Shibing County in Guizhou, had a history of drug abuse, said police.
Fifteen people were killed in the blast, which occurred at 2:40 p.m. on Monday at a gambling site on a remote mountain slope in Laoshan Village of Kaili City. Another eight people were injured.
The casualties were people who had gathered at the site to gamble.
The gambling site was a simple tent located on a flat area in the mountains. A suspicious crater, about one to two meters in diameter, was found under the blasted tent.
Police have detained eight suspects, including three who surrendered to police.
A working team from the Ministry of Public Security arrived at the scene early on Tuesday to help with the ongoing police investigation.
And Guizhou has started a special action to combat gambling. Between Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning, police raided 140 gambling sites and captured over 1,600 suspects.
