South Korea's President Moon Jae-in delivered a speech at the US Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday evening on his first overseas trip to the US.
In the speech, he underlined the importance of growing bilateral trade, as CGTN's Jessica Stone reports.
Moon also visited Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, laying a garland at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha meanwhile met with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who described the two leaders as being "on the same page on reining in the DPRK."
Moon will meet US President Donald Trump at a welcome banquet in the White House on Thursday afternoon, primarily to discuss the DPRK and its nuclear ambitions. More talks will be held between both countries' political and business leaders.
The DPRK's nuclear program has raised major concerns in the US and South Korea in recent months. Moon wants to take a less confrontational approach in dealing with Pyongyang, but Trump has called for "maximum pressure" through economic sanctions and the threat of military action.
Moon has said that China's role on the DPRK issue is critical, and said he planned to plead with Beijing to increase its pressure on Pyongyang.
