One dead, 18 injured in attacks in southern Thailand

One Thai ranger was killed and 18 others injured after three bombs were detonated in southern Thai province of Yala on Thursday morning.

The first bomb went off at a power pole at about 1:30 a.m. local time and caused no injuries.

The incident was reported to local police. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was sent to examine the scene. They were hit by a second bomb and also attacked by insurgents, according to reports by the Bangkok Post.

Later, the third bomb was detonated while officers were inspecting the scene.

Latest reports said a total of 19 officers were sent to hospitals, and one of them was pronounced dead.
