Pakistan army has pressed neighboring Afghanistan to take effective steps for border security after terrorists killed two Pakistani soldiers in firing from the Afghan side of the border.
Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack on Pakistani posts in Bajaur tribal region, bordering Afghanistan.
Pakistani security officials said on Monday the Pakistani Taliban militants, who have fled to Afghanistan as the result of military operations, operate from the Afghan border regions and routinely carry out attacks on Pakistani border posts.
Shortly after terrorists from the Afghan side attacked Pakistani soldiers, Pakistan military urged Afghan officials to take steps for security of the border to stop such attacks.
"Two more martyrs today. This is the price Pakistan is paying for security vacuum on Afghan side of the border," army spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor said on official Twitter.
"Pakistan has done its part, cleared all areas, fencing, new posts, enhanced presence along border and establishing of crossing points," he said.
He insisted that more efforts are required on Afghanistan side by all stake holders, adding that lives of forces and citizens equally precious on both sides of border.
"It now requires elimination of terrorist's sanctuaries in Afghanistan and effective Afghan border security," Ghafoor further said.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have nearly 2,600 kilometers border, mostly porous, and now Pakistan army fencing the border to stop the cross-border movement of the militants. Militants would earlier take advantage of the open border between the two countries. However, Pakistan started fencing of the border this year to stop the cross-border movement of the militants.
The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistani and the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group have carried out four attacks on Pakistani check posts in less than two months, which killed five security personal and injured several others.
