"Crimson River," a new Chinese web drama in the "Light On" series of suspense shows that opened on online streaming platform iQiyi early this month, is set for release soon.

The announcement, released via the drama's social media account along with a trailer, comes on the heels of the critically acclaimed "The Bad Kids," another "Light On" suspense drama that was released two weeks ago.

"Crimson River" revolves around an unsolved murder case of a young girl, which repeats itself 20 years later and awakens the memories of a peaceful town. In the show, a man, once a witness to the murder case, returns to the town to seek out the truth as a policeman.

"The Bad Kids," adapted from a popular novel, has topped the weekly popularity ranking for Chinese-language TV series for a second consecutive week on review platform Douban.

The 12-episode drama stars Qin Hao as a math teacher who hatches an elaborate murder plot to kill the parents of his unfaithful wife after she demands a divorce. However, his actions are recorded by three children playing nearby.

On Tuesday, "The Bad Kids" scored 8.9 points out of 10 on Douban based on more than 461,000 reviews.
