New Delhi, Jan 7 (APD) - On Sunday night violence at a premier university campus in New Delhi caused concern nation wide.

In the violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus, at least 35 students and teachers were injured as a masked group attacked them.

The Delhi Police crime branch registered a case against unidentified persons Monday morning.

According to reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal regarding violence in JNU.

Meanwhile, the JNU administration compiled a detailed report on the violence, and events and sent it to the Human Resource Department Ministry.

The Vice-Chancellor of JNU, M Jagadesh Kumar was quoted in a media report informing, “A detailed report has been sent to the Human Resource Department Ministry about the sequence of events. The top administration officials are at the Ministry to provide all details leading to present situation.”

Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal also held a meeting at his residence on the issue. He expressed his, “shock” at the incident.

Through twitter, he said, “Students attacked brutally. Police should immediately stop violence and restore peace. How will the country progress if our students will not be safe inside the university campus?”
