The Polish team Jastrzebski Wegiel informed on Monday that they won't go to Italy for the quarterfinal match of the men's volleyball CEV Champions League due to concerns over the novel coronavirus epidemic.

The game against Italian team Trentino is scheduled for Thursday. On Sunday Jastrzebski Wegiel held talks with the team from Trento and the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV).

"Unfortunately, we did not reach an agreement (with the Italians), although we proposed several solutions. The first was to play both matches in our hall, the second was to meet on the neutral ground in Austria," wrote Jastrzenski Wegiel Chairman Adam Gorol in the statement.

"After talks with the players I decided we won't go to Italy. If CEV takes the decision that our rival is right, we will accept the walkover and pay the penalty. We are still ready to play the match on the neutral ground," added Gorol.
